Pre Marital Counselling

Pre Marital Counselling Is A Good Idea
Planning for your marriage can bring up a wide range of feelings. Alongside the excitement, anticipation, and joy, there can be nervousness, stress and perhaps some anxiety. There is evidence that couples who take advantage of pre marital therapy before marriage, report greater marital satisfaction over time. Pre marital counseling offers an opportunity for couples to deepen their connection, explore issues of concern and build a solid foundation moving into the future.
What Happens During Pre Marital Counselling?
All sessions have unique characteristics but in general, here's what you can expect in the first session.
l begin by asking questions to help me get to know you as individuals and as a couple. Some of the things we will explore initially are:
- What are the key issues you would like to explore?
- What is your communication like? When you disagree, how do you work through towards a resolution?
- If pre marital counselling is working for you, what changes would you be seeing and feeling?
From the first session, couples can begin to sense the value of pre marital counselling. Feeling supported and having the chance to get important thoughts and feelings out in a constructive and well structured environment can be a very positive step towards streengthening your foundation.
Good Communication is a Strong Foundation
Good Communication is Essential To Marital Happiness
A key component of pre marital counselling is exploring the way you communicate as a couple. Begin to identify positive patterns you want to build on as well as, not so helpful patterns, you want to change. In the pre marital sessions you will have a chance to practice valuable, proven communication skills, that can help you get your message across clearly, and be heard by your partner, and also become a more skilled listener, enabling your partner feel heard and understood.

Why work with me?
Over many years, I’ve worked with hundreds of couples in my private practice in Ealing, West London and in Central London at my Liverpool St Office. Since 2018 I have supported and provided guidance to couples and individuals around the world via online relationship therapy and counselling.
I’ve provided relationship counselling and marriage and family therapy as a part of a team of NHS professionals, supporting families in crisis and individuals and couples seeking support to build happier relationships.
In short, I have a lot of experience and specialised training with a focus on relationship issues.
Very Importantly, I’ve been on the other side of the relationship counselling / couple’s therapy process, as a client. I know what it’s like to struggle to communicate well and build consistently strong connections with people I love.
Perhaps most importantly of all, I bring a genuine commitment to helping people have happier, more nurturing relationships. To be honest, it’s my passion. I love the work I do, sharing my expertise and supporting others, to enrich their relationships, enriches my life and gives it greater meaning.
